Explain your thought process behind starting your own brand. What motivated you to even try?
The original shirt was merch for the rap group “Iron Rose” that I’m in. But as time passed the merch grew into its own separate thing. The popularity drove me to think bigger. Now it’s a full blown clothing line.
What does Beyond The Runway mean to you?
To me, it means reaching the people, beyond the runway. My story and fashion background is unique, and could be a motivation to anyone in any world, not just the fashion world.
Why did you pursue fashion as a career/hobby?
I’ve always been into fashion and designing/altering my own clothes as a hobby. It became a career with time and opportunity. From selling band merchandise, to making my own custom pieces to perform in, to New York Fashion Week; the new opportunities push my pursuit.
Who motivates you to pursue your dreams and never give up?
My faith and my family. My father battled through kidney failure, a transplant, and more all while being there for me on this journey every step of the way. And my daughter with her energy, humor, and style that keeps me moving forward no matter what.
