Give the readers an introduction to your brand. Share what sets your brand apart from others.
Desmina de Vil is a world-renowned clown and fashion designer. But Ms. de Vil is more than a “brand”, a human, a writer, or even an Eternal Being jesting in the Multiverse of Her. Desmina de Vil is Imagination Herself. If clothes are costumes and costumes are characters, then I can create anything and anyone I desire. You inquired?
Explain your thought process behind starting your own brand. What motivated you to even try?
There was no real thought process behind me starting the Desmina de Vil brand. There were thoughts, wild and unprocessed, but more importantly there was opportunity. “Are you a fashion designer?” the internet asked Me. Yes, I am, because I imagined. I threw paint on my costumes, wrote a story, altered my name, and stepped through a shattered mirror.
What does Beyond The Runway mean to you?
Beyond the Runway, to Me, means beyond the performance. The Runway is a carefully crafted show, which, while beautiful, is just one portrayal of the blood, sweat, and tears of the creations. A universe of stories and adventures are garmentized beyond each of my designs. On the Runway, a model steps into a fabric of imagination. Beyond the Runway, imagination runs wild.
Why did you pursue fashion as a career/hobby?
In all honesty, I went completely and totally insane. I stayed up all night one Spring, dancing in the mirror as I put on and took off costumes, imagining myself as every fairy-tale and cartoon I ever encountered. I covered myself in Glitter and Gore, stuffed flowers in my mouth, and dawned trash fashion perfect for a Clown.
Who motivates you to pursue your dreams and never give up?
Me Me Me and Me! And Her (the other Me.) Or is it the ringing liberties that exist inside of dreams? Of course, I am entirely inspired and motivated by so many people outside of my own Ego: my family, my partners, my drag and model friends, children, and animals. I am also incredibly motivated by the characters and caricatures of tall tales.
